The nearest shop is in Bridge of Balgie, 6 miles away. This is a small post office selling a good selection of basic items and is open from 8am to 6pm seven days a week. (Closed on Tuesdays to Thursdays in winter.)
Kenmore, eight miles away has a shop and delicatessen selling a range of essentials and fine foods.
The best place for grocery shopping is Aberfeldy where there is a butcher, a farm shop, a delicatessen and a supermarket (open all day until 8pm every day, including Sundays).
Asda deliver on-line shopping daily to Glen Lyon. If you wish to arrange a delivery for the day of your arrival, please let us know.
The water comes directly from the burn on the hills behind the cottage. A water filtration system has been installed to ensure that it is safe for drinking, however you may prefer to drink bottled water.
As you are unlikely to get a mobile phone reception at the cottage, you are welcome to use the telephone for emergency and occasional calls.
There is currently no microwave in the cottage.
RESTRICTED HEIGHT OF EAVES
The doorways to bedrooms 1 and 2 are built in the eaves and therefore have restricted head room. Tall adults will need to dip their heads to enter these rooms.
A basket of logs is provided and additional logs are available from the log store (honesty payment of £5 per basket).
Dogs are welcome by arrangement but must not be allowed in the bedrooms or on any of the furniture. Owners must keep the gardens clear of dog mess at all times. Two dogs maximum. Please note that although the garden is fully enclosed, small dogs may find gaps in the fencing.

From the East: From the A9 take the Ballinluig exit north of Dunkeld and follow signs for Aberfeldy. At the traffic lights in Aberfeldy turn right onto the B846 towards Kinloch Rannoch and follow the road for 5 miles until you reach a white house on the left called Coshieville House. Take the road on the left signposted Fortingall and Glen Lyon. After 3 miles you will reach Fortingall. Continue through the village. Shortly after leaving Fortingall take the road on the right signposted Glen Lyon and travel for 5 miles to Invervar. Once in Invervar go past the phone box on the left and the white roadside cottage on the right. Glen Lyon Cottage is just around the bend on the right hand side, set back from the road in an elevated position, just before the stone bridge over Invervar Burn.
From the West: Take the road north from Glasgow, through Callander and Lochearnhead to Killin. Drive through Killin taking the road running along the North shore of Loch Tay for 14 miles until you reach Fearnan. Here, turn left, signposted Fortingall and Glen Lyon. Just before reaching Fortingall take the road on the left signposted Glen Lyon and travel for 5 miles to Invervar. Once in Invervar go past the phone box on the left and the white roadside cottage on the right. Glen Lyon Cottage is just around the bend on the right hand side, set back from the road in an elevated position, just before the stone bridge over Invervar Burn.
There is space for one car on the driveway. Additional cars may be parked on the roadside outside the cottage or at the walkers car park just along the road.
BRING A TORCH!
There is a torch in the cottage but as there is no street lighting in the glen it is useful to have one on arrival, especially in Winter!
